MAX WEISSBERG - Producer, Director, Editor, Animator
A graduate of the American Film Institute's directing program, Max Weissberg co-produced and appeared in the feature documentary film, HOTEL GRAMERCY PARK, which included cameos by Ben Stiller, Winona Ryder, Jared Leto, and Karl Lagerfeld. The film earned a jury citation at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival and screened on the Sundance Channel for several years. In 2012, Max appeared in HOTEL SECRETS on Sky Atlantic TV in the UK, hosted by actor Richard E. Grant. Max’s feature film, SUMMERTIME IN NEW YORK, screened at festivals including SXSW (as ROOM 4 RENT), and won best screenplay at 2013 First Time Fest (held at the historic Players Club, hosted by Martin Scorsese). The film is now available on 30 VOD outlets in 20 countries. In 2014, Max's AFI thesis short, KARAGANDA, won 5 festival awards and was invited to 26 film festivals in 13 countries. He recently completed the feature version, *KARAGANDA*: RED MAFIYA, which is now in film festivals. Commercial credits include work on the Paramount Network, TV Land, Sundance Channel, MTV, VH1, CMT, Nick, and Comedy Central. In addition to his film work, he's also written for Rolling Stone, ICON:GRAZIA, and PULSE, among other media outlets. Book publications include Philosophies of Greek Tragedy from Schiller to Nietzsche and the forthcoming The Gramercy Park Hotel: A New York Icon for The History Press. Max speaks fluent German and Russian, as well as conversational Spanish and French.
